Concrete Floors & Slabs

For those of you in the construction business, you know how long it takes to cast a concrete floor and slab using coventional methods.

There are many systems, such as stay in place rib and block system which are heavy and cumbersome to install, there are prestressed precast slabs which are made to order and usually take weeks for delivery, and of course there is temporary formworks which need to be erected and then dissassembled after the concrete has properly set (usually after 21 days).

With Roofix permanent formwork, two to four workers can easily set up 500 square metres of floor space in one day, ready for the concrete pour. Roofix sheets are light and can be cut to size on site to fit any shape or angle. With Roofix you can build two way floors/slabs or composite floors/slabs that integrate with the steel structure.

Floors and slabs can be cast on standard brick wall buildings, heavy duty steel structures and light steel frame structures using Roofix permanent formwork.

On the left one can see the process of casting a two-way floor:

  1. Set up temporary supports

  2. Lay the Roofix sheets on the support beams

  3. Add reinforcing steel (rebar) as per engineer's specifications

  4. Pour the concrete (concrete slump should not be too watery)

Below are some illustrations of roofix sheets spannning across two brick walls.

Below are some examples of actual installations using Roofix permanent formwork on steel structures and light steel frame buildings, and concrete structure buildings.
